Welcome the Year of the Fire Horse: LunarFest 2026 Pre-Event Activities Are Here

Explore AMA COSMOS Weekend Pop-Up Markets & Join the Fire Horse Art Contest

To celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year Carnival, we have specially planned a series of fun and engaging pre-event activities, inviting the community to experience the cultural charm of the Lunar New Year in advance.

As the festive season approaches, LunarFest 2026 officially launches its pre-festival programming. Through art, cultural markets, and community participation, these activities build excitement and festive spirit ahead of the grand Lunar New Year celebration this February.

Fire Horse Children’s Lunar New Year Art Contest

As the first highlight of LunarFest 2026, the Fire Horse Children’s Lunar New Year Art Contest has received an enthusiastic response since registration opened. Families and young artists across the community are actively participating.

Children of different age groups are invited to create their own Lunar New Year artwork inspired by the Year of the Fire Horse, expressing creativity, imagination, and festive wishes through art.

This contest is jointly organized by Katy Asian Town, Best Kids Academy, and Top Art, with the goal of helping children connect with Lunar New Year traditions in a joyful and meaningful way while building creative confidence.

Awards sponsored by Top Art are available for each age group:

  • 1st Place: USD $50 cash prize + USD $600 art class scholarship
  • 2nd Place: USD $600 art class scholarship
  • 3rd Place: USD $150 art class scholarship

All winning artworks will be exhibited on-site during KAT LunarFest 2026, allowing young artists to share their creativity with families and the wider community.

Due to strong community interest, the submission deadline has been extended to January 22.

AMA COSMOS “Fortune Rides With You” Saturday Pop-Up Market

Every Saturday in January

Launched last Saturday, the AMA COSMOS “Fortune Rides With You” Saturday Pop-Up Market has received warm feedback and lively participation. The market will continue every Saturday throughout January, featuring rotating vendors so visitors can discover something new each week.

Hosted by AMA COSMOS, the market follows a unique “On-Site Display × Pre-Order × Direct from Asia” model. Visitors can browse fashion and lifestyle items in person, then place pre-orders through AMA COSMOS. All items are shipped directly from Asia in weekly batches, with limited quantities available while supplies last.

Featured items include Vietnamese traditional attire, Chinese-style qipao vests, and Lunar New Year festive outfits, perfect for holiday visits, family gatherings, or LunarFest photo-ready looks.

Call For Volunteers

To invite more community members to take part in this annual celebration, LunarFest 2026 volunteer recruitment is now officially open. The festival will take place on February 14–15, 2026, at Katy Asian Town. Volunteer shifts are flexible, with a wide range of roles available.

Volunteer opportunities include guest services, vendor assistance, kids’ activity areas, stage support, setup and breakdown crews, photography and social media coverage, and general crowd assistance.

Volunteering is ideal for students seeking community service hours, families wishing to volunteer together, and anyone passionate about Asian culture and community events.

From children’s art activities and weekend cultural markets to meaningful community involvement, LunarFest 2026’s pre-event celebrations are steadily building momentum.
We warmly invite the Greater Houston community to join us and experience the joy, creativity, and cultural traditions of the Lunar New Year ahead of this year’s festival.
